Speaking in Portland: Inclusive Care for Chronic Health

Hello Reader,

I’m excited to share that I’ll be presenting at the 2024 Oregon Counseling Association Fall Conference in Portland next month. As a fellow Oregon mental health professional, I invite you to join us.

My session, “An Inclusive Counseling Approach for Clients with Chronic Health Issues,” will explore how we can better serve clients with chronic health conditions by examining our practices through a social justice lens. I will cover:

  • How societal structures impact mental health treatment for clients with chronic conditions
  • Practical techniques for reframing therapy goals in more inclusive ways
  • Ethical considerations in promoting social justice through our clinical work

Session Details: - Friday, November 15th, 11:40 AM - 12:30 PM - Embassy Suites Downtown Portland - Part of a 3-day conference offering up to 15 CE credits

This presentation, which draws from both my clinical experience and personal journey with chronic health issues, offers a unique perspective on creating more empowering therapeutic relationships.

The full conference (November 14-16) features 13 sessions on cutting-edge topics in counseling, plus numerous networking opportunities and a group practice job fair. If you’ll be there, I’d love to connect in person. Please come and say hello after my session!

Register for the Conference

Registration ends November 11th

Looking forward to meeting you in Portland!

Best,

Peter

P.S. Even if you can’t attend my session, I hope you consider joining the conference. The lineup of speakers is impressive, and it’s an excellent opportunity to connect with our local mental health community.
